Deschamps rules out France taking injured stars to Qatar World Cup

Nigeria News

Didier Deschamps wants Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba to show that they can contribute to the Qatar 2022 tournament after announcing that he would not bring injured players to the World Cup.

The French coach said that anyone who travels to the final, where the French team defends its title in Russia, should be able to contribute immediately.

Manchester United center-back Varane is not expected to play club football until the start of the Qatar 2022 finals after a leg injury.

Pogba is back in training at Juventus after knee surgery but will not return to work any time soon.

“That’s pretty obvious,” Deschamps said. “I have not started a great league with an injured player, although there are some who can give examples from 2018 with our full-backs, Benjamin Mendy and Djibril Sidibe.

“They’re healed. Then it’s about being fit. And between the time I made the list and what should have happened, it didn’t… Here you go.

“But entering a big competition with players who are not prepared requires a lot of attention, and for whom you have to play, it also requires the direction of the medical staff.

“I think we should go with good, capable players.”

Pogba is still hoping to make an impact on the pitch in his second spell with Juventus, after returning from Serie A giants Manchester United.

There is a strong desire from Deschamps for the midfielder to be on board the flight to Qatar, and Pogba could well return for club games in the coming weeks.

The coach is very sympathetic to the 29-year-old, who has been going through difficult times outside of football lately.

An investigation was opened in August into allegations that Pogba was the subject of a $13 million ($13.01 million) blackmail plot by his brother Matthias and their childhood friends.

Matthias Pogba and four others have been charged in connection with the case and Deschamps considers Paul Pogba a “victim”.

“It was a very difficult moment for him, yes,” Deschamps said.

“I talk to him regularly. He’s a person with a great mentality. Obviously, given his injury, it’s not easy. But mentally he’s fine.”

Likewise, the real estate company said Friday that a lucky spectator who used the best betting site in Nigeria in the final of the sixth edition of the 2022 Adron Games would win back a ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

This is what Vahidi Akane, Adron Games technical advisor, said in an interview with NAN in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the tournament, scheduled for November 10-12, will be held at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex in Lagos State.

Company employees and students from selected schools are expected to participate in various athletic and football competitions.

NAN also stated that the competition is part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Akani, CEO of Match International Limited, urged sports fans to put down their numbers because they had the chance to win a ticket back to Qatar.

“The final prize for this year’s edition is a return ticket to the World Cup and there are other delicious prizes to be won in the raffle.

“We want this year’s edition to be all-inclusive, so we invite our friends in the media with lots of prizes to win,” he said.

Akane praised Adron Homes Group CEO, Aditola Emmanuel King, for giving viewers the opportunity to participate in the 2022 World Cup.

“The consistency over the last six years is commendable, the only time this tournament was not played was in 2020 during the pandemic and every year it gets better.

“I appreciate the perseverance of Emmanuel King and the staff of Adron Homes, despite the economic situation in the country Adron Homes continues to raise the bar.

“This year will be no different, we will always have game ambassadors like us, which is different from the Adron Homes and Properties brand ambassadors,” he said.

According to him, the competition will promote teamwork and collaboration between employees and a healthy lifestyle.

But the tournament has grown over the years with invitations to homeowners, homeowners, Adron contractors, and students.

“Also as a way of developing talents, we have some talents among the employees that have been discovered, and now they play for football clubs, so we don’t find these talents, we try to encourage them, but we are open to the union.” he said.

NAN said there will be a raffle, winners will appear and win nice prizes; Last year the first prize was the iPhone Pro Max.

Akane added that the essence of the competition is to promote solidarity among workers.

“We will verify the participants with staff cards, while students will be registered based on the data from higher education institutions,” he said.

NAN reports that at least 700 athletes will participate in the sixth edition of the tournament.
